VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?
Lilly: I am a senior at Weatherford and I run track.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Lilly: For me, track is a getaway and I’ve been doing it for seven years. I feel like not only has God made it a part of my plan but has also instilled a love for it in me as well.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Lilly: The girls! They make every season super fun.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Lilly: Shelby Calkins, this is her first year running and she chose to run probably the hardest race which is the mile and she brings amazing energy to the team and is just such a hard worker and never fails to make anyone not laugh!
VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?
Lilly: Running with Kennadi Price as a freshman is probably what started everything. She’s my inspiration for going to OSU and both of us are getting a degree in Psychology. Becoming friends with her my freshman year is my whole highlight of these past four years. She’s a leader that I still talk to all the time with and genuinely don’t know where I would be without.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Lilly: I love Weatherford and I think it’s super amazing that the community is so supportive and honestly if given the opportunity to run at any other school I couldn’t ever see me leaving Weatherford.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Lilly: My mom and dad inspire me the most I would say, they raised me to be God fearing and work hard on the track and through everything I do, we’ve had ups and downs and such but overall their support and love for me is like no one else’s.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Lilly: I think the Osakai teriyaki chicken bento but I like it with fried okra. I get a to-go order of the bento then run to Chicken Express and get a side of okra.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Lilly: My biggest shoutout goes to God quite honestly. I really couldn’t do anything or be where I am if I didn’t invest and put my time in his love for me, I believe his plan for me is so insane that I couldn’t ever imagine it. On and off the track whether it’s listening to praise and worship the day before meets or life church sermons online after a race, he has never failed to provide for me and bring peace with every race I run.
