Kickin’ It Around with Chandy Kirby – Presented by Eagle Realty

VYPE: What are your goals for yourself and your team this season?

Chandy: My goal for myself this year is to be a leader to the underclassmen and to leave a positive legacy. For my team, our goal is obviously state, but we definitely are looking to play in playoffs this year. Last year was our first time not making the first round in a long time, so we are all definitely hungry for it this year.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

Chandy: During spring break I got the chance to hang out with some of the freshmen on our team and it was a lot more fun than I had ever thought hanging out with freshmen could be.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade or coach and why?

Chandy: Coach Givens has been at Weatherford for three years now and they’ve all been so much fun. She’s really made an impact in my life by wanting to live more Christ-like and to play to my best ability. My club coach Brandon Randell also has made a huge impact on my life. He’s always there for us in any of our big life moments and he continues to support us in all things outside of soccer.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Chandy: My favorite athletic memory would have to be my club team’s Kansas tournament this past September. We went 4-0 on the weekend and won our division.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Chandy: Maddie Crisp and Summer Bass were two graduates in 2020. They left such a huge impression in my life. Summer and Maddie, both encouraged me to try to play soccer in college and now I am. They’re some of my closest friends and I will forever be thankful that soccer brought me them.

VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?

Chandy: Our honorary teammate Daislee does the best impression of Coach Givens. Probably because she’s the coach’s daughter, but she is spot on. Ashtyn Allen always cracks me up during games no matter if we’re winning or losing.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Chandy: If I could go on any vacation, I would choose to go to New York City. I went there after freshman year and loved the city. I’d take my mom and my sisters. We’ve always talked about doing a girl’s trip there, but we haven’t gotten the chance.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 dollars and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?

Chandy: If I had to spend $500 dollars in 24 hours, I would buy a $500 gift card to New Creation Nutrition. All of us go there before our games and the owners are so nice.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.

Chandy: I want to thank all of my teammates for being so supportive in my next step to play college soccer. Also, my parents for driving me to the city two times a week for the past four years for club practice. Lastly, thank you Coach Petrino and Coach Sweet for being two of the best coaches ever. They are two of my biggest role models at the moment.
