The Weatherford High School academic team enters the season with confidence, experience, and a shared drive to compete at a high level under head coach Leslie Waldrop.
“I’m incredibly optimistic about our upcoming academic season,” Waldrop said. “Our team has shown strong effort and desire to compete! With consistent effort and collaboration, I believe we’re positioned to compete confidently and achieve great results!”

Leading the way for the Eagles are seniors Allison Kimble and Ethan Cornelius, who bring leadership and experience to the roster.
Waldrop believes the team’s strength lies not just in individual talent, but in its collective commitment to preparation and teamwork. That unity has been evident in practices and competitions as the Eagles continue sharpening their skills across subject areas.
“Our team has shown strong effort and desire to compete!” Waldrop said.
Alongside the senior leadership, a strong junior class provides depth and versatility. Team members Ryder Leonard, Rhett Metscher, Kevin Perez Mercado, Reed Chase, and Alexis Quiroz round out a roster that combines experience with emerging talent.
With multiple upperclassmen contributing, Weatherford has built a balanced lineup capable of handling the fast-paced nature of academic competition. Collaboration and communication remain focal points as the team prepares for postseason opportunities.
“We are looking forwards to regionals,” Waldrop said.
The Eagles’ approach centers on consistent preparation and trust in one another. From seasoned seniors to determined juniors, each member plays a role in the team’s pursuit of success.
“With consistent effort and collaboration, I believe we’re positioned to compete confidently and achieve great results!” Waldrop said.
As regionals approach, Weatherford carries optimism and momentum into the heart of the season. With dedicated leadership from Kimble and Cornelius and valuable contributions from Leonard, Metscher, Perez Mercado, Chase, and Quiroz, the Eagles are prepared to meet the challenge head-on and represent their school with pride in every competition.
