Q&A with Weatherford’s Kaitlyn Bryant – Presented by More Than Medicine

VYPE: What were some of your favorite moments this softball season?
Kaitlyn: Some of my favorite memories are my team’s journey to the state tournament. Going undefeated in our district, winning regionals on our home field, and winning super regionals in Miami was amazing. We fell short last year making it to state, and it was rewarding for us all to make it to state.

VYPE: What has softball taught you that you use in your daily life?
Kaitlyn: These last few months, I have had to battle a lot of adversity. I had shoulder surgery July 21st, and I was determined to get back on the field with my teammates. I had a fantastic medical team working alongside me, and I was released to play August 23rd . Through this entire process, I learned to have patience and perseverance. Some days were better than others, but each day I set a goal, and I worked until I reached it. When that goal was met, I pushed a little harder to reach the next goal.

VYPE: What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen during a game?
Kaitlyn: My teammate and my friend, Abby, who is always falling.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Kaitlyn: My dad inspires me the most. He is the hardest working person I have ever been around. He always teaches me to do things right the first time. He pushes me to the best athlete and person that I can be.

VYPE: What do you think is the biggest challenge in softball?
Kaitlyn: Our school softball season is fast and furious. The biggest challenge I think we face as softball players is keeping our bodies healthy playing so many games every week and practicing in between.

VYPE: What do you think makes a great softball player?
Kaitlyn: A great softball player has to have a great attitude and give maximum effort. These two things are 100% controlled by each player.

VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.
Kaitlyn: My mom is the best athlete in our family. She earned All-State honors as a high school golfer, and she played college golf at SWOSU.

VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?
Kaitlyn: If I played another sport, it would probably be basketball. I like sports that are fast paced with a lot of action.

VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?
Kaitlyn: “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars.
