Weatherford’s Ty Short – Presented by Pond Agency

Most people see fishing as something you do to relax on a nice day outside. You are able to get away from it all and just enjoy nature as you cast your line into the water. Ty Short does enjoy fishing for the relaxation aspect, but he also sees it as a competition.

Ty is a sophomore at Weatherford High School, where he is a member of the school’s fishing team and the football team.

Throughout his life, there have been people that have had a positive impact on Ty’s life and he says that he is thankful for each of them. But he does have a couple that have played a big part in his life.

“My grandpa is one of my biggest role models,” he said. “He always has something positive to say to me. Coach Sossamon also, because he is always positive and you can talk whenever you want to talk to him.”

No matter what he is doing, Short does his best to be successful. He says that while it takes a lot, he is thankful for the people that are around him.

“It has taken a lot of hard work and positivity for me to get to where I am today,” he said. “My friends and family are some of the biggest motivators in my life because the are always there for me and encouraging me. The other guys on my team are really great because they show you what to do and what not to do.”

There are a lot of positive things about being on a team, but for Ty there are a couple that he enjoys the most.

“I think my favorite thing is all the memories that you make with people,” he said. “Another is when we beat our rival Clinton in any sport. It is always great to get the win against them.”

Along with his sports, Short also volunteers to help with the special needs group at his school.”
