Weatherford High School sophomore Cooper Bell is already carving out a role on the Eagles’ varsity football team, bringing a mix of discipline, toughness and team-first mentality to the offensive line.

Bell, a 10th grader, plays left tackle, a position that demands both physical strength and sharp awareness. He said one of the most challenging aspects of his role is “blocking the back side linebacker,” a task that requires quick recognition and precise execution to protect the play.

Despite his youth, Bell has embraced the responsibility that comes with varsity competition. One of his most memorable experiences came early in his high school career. “Winning our first round playoff game against Blanchard as a freshman” stands out as a defining moment, he said.

That early exposure to high-pressure games has helped shape Bell’s approach to football and preparation. Before each game, he relies on a simple but effective routine. “I sit at my locker, take deep breaths and focus on the game plan,” he said.

Bell credits much of his motivation to a strong support system, especially his uncle Casey. “He is always pushing me to do my best and always asking about my practices, workouts and games,” Bell said. That encouragement has helped him stay focused on improvement both on and off the field.

Off the field, Bell enjoys spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, as well as working out to stay in peak condition. In the classroom, he gravitates toward math and remembers Mrs. Hickman, his eighth-grade history teacher, as a favorite who made a lasting impression.

Football, however, remains a central part of his high school experience. Bell said the relationships within the program are what he values most. “The bond we have and how we push each other to do our best,” he said, is what makes being part of the team special.

That sense of camaraderie extends across the roster, including learning from older teammates. Bell recalled the impact of playing alongside standout lineman Lukas Burd last season, calling the experience one of the most eye-opening moments of his young career.

Through football, Bell has developed lessons he believes will carry into the future. “Hard work, good attitude and effort pays off,” he said.

As he continues to grow physically and mentally, Bell is focused on building his skills and contributing to the team’s success. With a strong foundation already in place, the Weatherford offensive lineman appears poised to be a key part of the Eagles’ program in the years ahead.
