Creek Williams, a Weatherford High School senior wrestler, says, “there’s nothing like throwing on a Weatherford shirt or singlet and knowing you have a huge fan base behind you.”
Williams wrestles in the 132-pound weight class. He also represents WHS as a member of FFA and Student Council. “Hard work and discipline” have helped him keep up; and the reward is beating the Red Tornadoes on the mats.
“There is nothing better than beating Clinton, just because they have always been a rival and are always a little stuck up,” Williams said.
Williams doesn’t take for granted any coach, teacher, teammate or mentor who has helped him to where he’s at.
“My parents and Coach Duncan have always pushed me to be my best and know that I am capable of whatever,” Williams said. “Coach Duncan was one of my history teachers, but he also became a life-long friend of mine because he held me accountable at all times. . . “Me and Dylan Renan have always been good buddies and push each other to the highest level when practicing.”
Williams considers both of his state-qualifying performances to be his best athletic memories. His biggest pet peeve is teammates who don’t respect the sport with exceptional work ethic. In his free time, Williams competes in rodeo and enjoys following the sport.
