Weatherford travels to Pauls Valley on September 20th. The teams last played in 1993 with Weatherford coming away with a 40-0 victory. Two-sport star CJ Nickson caught eight passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles 48-21 playoff lost to Tuttle.

OFFENSE
Weatherford returns to the field with a highly experienced offense, led by head coach Taylor Sossamon. “We have an experienced group of senior leaders that are looking to finish their high school careers strong!” Sossamon said. The Eagles will employ an 11/21/12 personnel offense under the guidance of Sossamon. With Weatherford bringing back many experienced players this year, the offense will be versatile with a large number of players being able to contribute in all areas. The offense will be
orchestrated by versatile player Stone Chism (6-2, 220, Sr.), who can play quarterback, fullback, or tight end, with key targets in wide receivers CJ Nickson (6-5, 230, Sr.), Nick Jett (5-9, 150, Sr.) and Cy Scammahorn (5-11, 145, Sr.). Running back Jackson Blackmon (6-0, 215, Sr.) will also play a major role. The wide receiver group is further strengthened by Brody Willis (5-11, 180, Sr.). With nine returning starters, the Eagles are aiming for a strong offensive season.
DEFENSE
The Eagles’ defense will operate from a 3-3-5/4-2-5 base. The unit will focus on being physical, tackling and stopping the run game. The defensive line features Cutler Rollins (6-2, 270, Sr.), a powerful presence
on the line. In the secondary, Cash Jennings (6-0, 175, Sr.) will provide solid coverage. The linebackers are supported by returning starters Steele Chism (5-10, 190, Sr.) and Reno Hamons (6-0, 180, Sr.), both of whom bring tenacity and physicality to the defense. Defensive end Jordan Martinez (6-1, 230, Sr.) and defensive tackle Cooper Whitetail (5-9, 220, Sr.) add depth and strength to the defensive front. Future stars to watch this season include Jakoby Flynn and Wryland Recker. With nine returning starters, the Eagles’ defense is expected to be a unit to watch this season.
