OUTLOOK
A new season brings high energy and high expectations for the Weatherford Lady Eagles, as head coach Kali Haworth enters her second year leading the program. With a mix of veteran leadership and promising young talent, the Lady Eagles are focused on building upon last season’s success and taking the next step forward.
“With three seniors, one junior, six sophomores, and six freshmen, we’ll rely on our upperclassmen to set the tone for a young but competitive group,” said Haworth. “We are returning two starters and added a senior move-in who’s looking to make an immediate impact, giving us a strong foundation to build on.”
Senior Talyn Payne (5-6, Sr.) will once again be a key piece for Weatherford’s offense. “Talyn is a talented guard who has made a name for herself,” Haworth said. “Teams know to watch out for her sharp shooting — she hit nearly 34% from three-point range last year. She brings energy, effort, and focus every game and really sets the tone for our team.”

Fellow seniors Payton Mills (5’6, Sr.) and Dasia Givens (5’9, Sr.) will provide essential leadership and production. “Dasia is a natural leader who encourages and lifts up everyone around her,” said Haworth. “She works hard every day and is a great example of what our program stands for.”

Junior Ella Strickler (5’9, Jr.) adds valuable experience inside, while sophomore Mackinley Haggard (5’8, So.) is poised for a breakout season. “Mackinley is a talented underclassman who’s looking to take on a bigger role this year,” said Haworth. “Her length and athleticism help her make plays on both ends of the floor.”
Coach Haworth’s system emphasizes effort and defensive intensity. “We want to use our speed and length to fly around, create chaos, and play fast, aggressive defense,” she said.
Sophomores Layna Navarre, Addison Blackwell, Gracie Martinez, Angie Sanga, and Caylyn Schmidt give the Lady Eagles tremendous depth in the guard rotation. The talented freshman class — Skyler Calkins, Kynlee Macha, Kollinz Daniel, Whitlee Jones, Alaya Brady, and Michelle Ferrell — adds athleticism and energy to an already competitive group.
“Our senior leadership, along with our younger players’ hunger to grow, makes this a fun team to coach,” said Haworth. “It’s going to be an exciting season for us.”
